Sarah
When she isn’t at a dog show, Sarah is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Washington State University. Her research is focused on understanding links between personality, pain, and substance use.
Sarah was introduced to purebred dogs by her parents, who had show quality German Shepherd Dogs. When Sarah was old enough to participate in dog sports, she and her sister joined 4-H with their two Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Sarah also raised a German Shepherd Dog puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and volunteered at the local Humane Society. Sarah has also owned and loved mixed-breed dogs, including her late beloved Rottweiler-Malamute Mix, Raven.
Sarah and Paul’s interest in showing began when they bought a show quality Irish Wolfhound, named Sunshine, and were mentored by their dear friends Richard and Nancy White. Richard and Nancy taught them that showing is fun, and doesn’t require a professional handler or professional grooming service.
In 2006 Sarah acquired a Samoyed for conformation showing, agility, obedience, and skijoring. That dog was Izzy, and she was everything Sarah had hoped for, and more! Both Sarah and Paul fell in love with the health, temperament, intelligence, versatility, and beauty of the breed. They decided to focus their efforts on showing and breeding these amazing dogs, with the goal of maintaining and producing these qualities.
